Finding the Roadmap to Your Destination Joy

Joy is more than just a fleeting emotion. It’s a consistent attitude of the heart, one that we unlock when we travel toward our most purposeful destination. We can call it our divine purpose, our vision or our calling, but what’s important is that it serves as the North Star that keeps our journey joyful. When we know our ‘destination joy,’ we begin to see the bigger picture. We can remain joyful, even in the face of temporary unhappiness, because we know that we are heading where we’re meant to be.

So how do we connect to that destination and start on our journey? These are a few practices I’ve found helpful.

Tap into the quiet space in your mind.

We all have a destination joy, even if we currently feel unaware of or detached from it. The first step in connecting to it is to find a quiet space in our mind by disconnecting from the world around us. Put down the distractions, step away from the negative news cycle, and clear your constant parade of thoughts. Tapping into the quiet space is a skill learned through practice, so be patient with yourself as you work to find it. Also remember that there’s no need to have a plan going in – in fact, the opposite is true. Sitting in the quiet space in our minds is what invites that plan to come to us.

Allow your conscious to connect with your subconscious.

Accessing the quiet place in your mind is the beginning of a conversation between your subconscious and your conscious. So many times, people get off-track in life because they’re trying to be a square peg in a round hole. They’re trying to force something that isn’t their true purpose. Ask yourself where your heart, or your subconscious, is leading you and give your conscious mind permission to follow. This is a game-changing step for a positive forward-thinking mind.

Let go of your fear of failure and judgment.

Choosing to begin on the path to our joyful destination won’t, unfortunately, get rid of negative voices. These voices – from real life, social media, or even your own mind – will try to show you all of the ways you might fail or tell you all of the things you’re doing wrong. Recognize that what you’re feeling is fear of failure and fear of judgment, and treat them the same way you’d treat any other fear you want to overcome. Face them head-on, build up your shield and let them go. Keep your eye trained on your joyful destination, and all of the joy you’ll experience getting there.

Allow the road to take you through twists and turns.

When we’re on our journey, we have no ability to judge what’s leading us closer to our destination and what’s leading us farther away. I’ve seen so many people fall victim to the idea that if something becomes difficult, it must no longer be the right thing to do. But when we look back, we see that the times that we were hurting built up our coat of armor and let us come back stronger for the next challenge. In my own journey with LimeLife, I face countless challenges, and the pain and stress often lead me to think that I made a wrong turn. Remaining connected to my journey allows me to reflect and see that the things I’ve struggled with the most have actually been the most vital in breaking through to the next level.

Be open with your support system.

Before I decided to take on my role with LimeLife, I had many open and honest conversations with my family. Together, we decided that making a positive impact on the world through LimeLife was my divine purpose. And because this decision is something we made together, I feel supported and inspired by them even when I’m challenged by the road’s twists and turns. It’s a pattern I’ve seen play out for so many of our Beauty Guides, as well. Those who keep their vision to themselves seem to fade away, while those who talk openly about their goals and dreams are often the most successful.

Above all, remember that joy is not just the destination, but the journey. Your heart can lead you to the starting line, but you’ll have to do the physical and emotional work to stay on your path. Remain focused on your vision, and you’ll feel that joy makes the work a whole lot lighter.  Comment a ✈️  if you are ready to go on your joy journey.
