Feel As Fierce As You Look

Fierce by Aly Raisman

FIERCE by Aly is not what you’d expect. And neither is she.

The FIERCE by Aly Collection from gold medal gymnast Aly Raisman is a collection as good as gold.

This fall, gold medalist Aly Raisman is launching a makeup collection that is as fierce as she is. The word fierce, however, has many interpretations, depending how you view it, and so does Aly.

After all, Aly is not just a gymnast. She’s best-selling author (of a book called Fierce), a body-image advocate, a voice and ally for sexual-abuse survivors, an avid gardener, a model, a puppy cuddler, and now, a makeup-collection creator.

In her collection are three eyeshadow palettes and six lipsticks. When LimeLife CEO Madison Mallardi met with Aly to first plan the line, Madison expected Aly to fill the eyeshadows with intense colors, the lipsticks with bold reds, the eyeliners with smokey blacks. But instead, Aly wanted something very different.

“She explained that to be fierce, you don’t have to be what people expect you to be,” Madison says. “But she really explained it to me in a way I’d never considered, which made me admire her even more than I already did. We can still have a strong presence no matter what color eye makeup we are wearing, whether that’s light eye makeup or bold eye makeup or no makeup at all.”

As a result, the colors in the collection were selected carefully and the names were, too. The “Be Present” eyeshadow palette, for example, comes with the grey-to-black colors called “Off My Phone,” “In the Moment,” and “Fierce” while another light-to-darker beige and neutral palette called “Speak Up” comes with colors called “Voice,” “Truth,” and “Power.”

“Makeup is a way to express yourself,” Aly says. “I wanted to create three-shade eyeshadow palettes that can be used in different ways to create a variety of different looks.”

And to top it all off, Aly chose neutral lipsticks in various shades to go with a variety of natural makeup looks.

“I like wearing natural makeup so I decided to do a few different shades of nude. Even if your makeup is subtle, it can still make a statement,” Aly says.
